Building Information Modelling
Maltby Surveys is fully committed to providing efficiencies and cost savings while still delivering on quality. It was one of the first companies in Europe to invest in terrestrial 3D laser scanning technology and since 2001 has refined and developed workflows to ensure the most rapid and efficient data capture and processing, fully supporting the BIM process.
For BIM to really succeed, it is vital that collaboration remains fundamental to the core of the process. Chartered Geomatics Professionals are at the foundation of that core and are widely recognized worldwide for their invaluable input to the spatial data requirement for virtually all construction related projects.
Modern technological advances in data capture in the form of Terrestrial Laser Scanning allow us to collate, process and share far more information than ever before. We must continue to share best practices amongst like-minded professionals for the real value of this information to be realized for the benefit of all project stakeholders.
For any BIM Model to be a success, the model must be formed in the correct manner from the outset of the project, with very clear guidelines, specifications and expectations from all sides, as to the content and formation of the modelled elements.
All of our modelling staff are based in our HQ in Haywards Heath. We do not outsource any of our modelling to 3rd party providers. In this way, we are able to maintain the highest standards with respect to the quality of the information that we provide. This has been endorsed by most of our Architectural clients and is often a major influence in their decision to appoint Maltby Surveys. We follow Autodesk’s subscription model which allows us access to the very latest developments with respect to software and additionally, we have a very close partner relationship with a company called Undet. With our input, Undet have developed complementary software plugins to work alongside AutoCAD, Revit, Sketchup as well as more affordable CAD offerings including ARES Commander. By maintaining close these relationships Maltby Surveys are able to remain at the forefront of technological advancements and in turn pass this on to our clients for mutual benefit.
